Giorgio Buchner, a senior member
of the staff of the Superintendency
of Antiquities of Naples, has lived
for many years on the island of Ischia
where he formerly directed excavations
in a Bronze and Early Iron Age
settlement. Since 1952 Buchner has
concerned himself with the archaic
Greek necropolis of Pithekousai.

Giorgio Buchner, senior member dello
staff della Soprintendenza alle Antichità
di Napoli, ha vissuto per molti anni
sull’isola di Ischia, dove ha diretto gli
scavi dell’insediamento dell’età del
bronzo e del ferro antico. Dal 1952
Buchner si è occupato della necropoli
greca arcaica di Pithekousai.
